was out once again today with the varmitgetter doing the mole runs, after the trapping.

anyone seen it in use ?? and what did you think ?.

if it is , i think your wasting your time oand money on mole runns.

 

of course , other moles will youse runs vacated by moles you have trapped.

 

but remmember this little creature is a digging machine , and doesn't need old runns . it will just dig new ones.

 

maybee there is some point to this tool , for getting rid of rabbit burrys. once the ocupants have been removed.

 

but lets be honest , how can you be sure evry ocupant has gone, or there isn't another spicies of animal down there , fox , stoat weasel, hedghog. to name a few.

 

in my view this is a truly VILE piece of kit , and is going to be used irisponcibly , with people not even bothering . to get rid of the ocupants first

It would appear that a scientist has worries of amphibions being killed and thier habitats destroyed, it won't be long before they are banned in this country, a lot going on in the background to end thier use. Be helpful if you know of any misuse or abuse if you could pm me the details.

‘Burrow-collapsing’ devices - Joint statement from BPCA & NPTA

 

There are devices now available for causing explosions in underground burrow systems. These are marketed in some countries as a method of pest control for moles, rats, rabbits and other burrowing species.

 

The British Pest Control Association (BPCA) and the National Pest Technicians Association (NPTA) wish to point out that the use of any explosive (other than ammunition) for the purpose of killing or taking any wild animal is prohibited under section 11(1) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

 

The Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has made a recent statement on these devices, where it clearly states that “Rodenator type devices must not be used for killing wild animals in this country."

 

Accordingly, in the UK , such devices are often marketed for the destruction of burrows, which technically would be a legal activity.

 

Representatives of the pest control industry and animal welfare organisations have expressed concerns to Natural England following reports of apparent illegal use, and a case involving the deaths of wild rabbits was recently documented in the veterinary journal, Veterinary Record. Cases have also been drawn to the attention of the police.

 

The maximum penalty for using an explosive, other than ammunition for a firearm, to kill wild animals is £5,000 and six months in prison. There is a similar penalty for asphyxiating any wild animal with intent to inflict unnecessary suffering, which is a potential consequence of incomplete destruction of an occupied burrow system.

 

Given the practical difficulties in ensuring that all the burrows concerned were free of any animals, the BPCA and the NPTA strongly advise their members not to purchase or use such devices.

hi tomo , one thing i must say is that it is not a pest control tool,

in no way would my boss use it as such.

after a two week session, first with talunex, and the second with traps, only then is the varmit getter used.

like i said its to colapes runs only, and more of a land management tool than anything.

used to stop the water corosion via shallow mole runs, on his clients land.

no pics today, there are still moles on the ground that got to be trapped first

IVE ALREADY HEARD ENOUGH OF THIS PIECE OF KIT BEING USED WRONGLY BY DICKS ........ AND IMO ... THE SOONER ITS BANNED THE BETTER
