gsi2000stokie 5
made this from an old gas bottle and the middle box off a cavalier. first you got to let all the gas out for obviouse reasons. the way i did it was unscrewed the valve out and then filled the bottle to the top with water to ensure every little bit of gas was gone. then grinded a hole in the bottom 4"x4" and welded a few bolts across for the grill. then cut a 6"x6" square in the front for the door which i welded on with some old hinges. the last bit was cutting the 4"x4" hole in the top and weld the hollowed out back box to it (or you could use and old steel drain pipe) then in with the wood and a bit of coal and away it goes. and it gets proper hot! i put in the 10ft x 10ft sectional shed and within about 5 mins of it burning it went from 4 below to bloody lovely. if anyone makes one to be sure the gas is completely gone fill it with water

woz 260
i used to make good money making them and selling them at festivals......i would cut the top off the cylinder put a flat plate on top...mount the chimney as far back as possible then you can get a kettle on the top...also if you put a baffle in the chimney you can get em to stay in all night...i used to cut a circle in the door weld a piece of tube to the inside of the door and fit a pirex dish to the inside then you can see the fire when its shut down..if you set a fire in it it will burn all the red paint off, then use manifold paint, they look great in matt black......if anyone wants one i will build some more for £150...... I remember going down the Marsh a good few years ago on a old Boys House boat, I remember he had a Burner pretty much identicle to that in the Cabin! the old boy used to stay in his house boat for a few nights to get out nice and earley for the Geese! I don't think there's many doing this sort of stuff anymore....
DUCKWING 302
WELL LADS , THE OLD GAS BOTTLE BURNERS HAVE BEEN AROUND A VERY LONG TIME ................ SAW MY FIRST NEARLY 30 YRS AGO AS A KID , ........ MOST AROUND THESE PARTS USE A PLATE AT THE TOP SO IT CAN BE REMOVED AND A PAN BOTTOM DROPPED ON ..... A REAL FAVOURITE OF THE ALLOTMENT LADS , AND FELLAS THEY BURN SEA COAL REAL NICE IMO .......... I WOULD HEED WOZs ADVICE ........ BUT I WOULD USE CEMENT BOARD IN TWO THICKNESS ...... IT AINT WORTH THE RISK FOR A BIT EXTRA WORK , PLUS MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A LONG ENOUGH CHIMNEY WITH A RAIN COVER ALL THE BEST DUCKWING

stubby 175
ooo, have I started a fad have since taken the above advice and boarded those wires in, behind a flame retardent board, havent done the hole/wood/flue bit yet, but will get round to that too, need to extend the outside pipe and make up a chimney of sorts and although I painted the flue in black heatproof manifold paint, its started to crack/blister, so next job, third or fourth coat of paint, dunno weather to keep the burner origanal blue, or try painting that too
