bad news! turns out that thetop is the wrong sort for the dive center to fill AND the bottle is out of date! but they can test it for £35.00.that seems a lot , is it?

what bottle is out of date mate ? the dive bottle you have or the buddy bottle off the rifle !

if its the one off the rifle then that hasnt got to be tested !

I was always under the impression that the gun bottle (not resevoir) DID need testing, but I've never had a detachable bottle, but know a couple of Rapid 7 owners and at least one HAS had his gun bottles tested. Can I ask what leads you to say it doesn't! Cheers

hi flyfish

i use a super 10 and have for some time as you can see there is no pressure indicator on the gun or bottle

what you will get when the bottle runs down on pressure is a dramatic loss of power within 8-10 shots

the pellet droping 2-4ins a fully charged bottle will at 12ft/lbs give you 200 full power shots .22cal when

removing buddy bottle you will here air escaping as you undo it if you dry fire the gun this will discharge

the air and allow the valve on bottle to close and seal repeat untill bottle is undone recharge bottle and

fit new O ring refit zero gun and enjoy your gun

if the bottle is out of date and the shop wants to fill it be some were else at 200bar+ =@

Cheers Jamie, strange one this and hopefully someone will come up with the definitave answer, my BOTTLE actually went about 61/2 years before it's last test (NO... I used it and charged it VERY regularly) but I'm still under the impression that a detachable gun bottle needs a test.

This is just out of curiusity now but can someone please conform or deny this is the case.

Cheers

heres some info from the BSA web site.

" How often should my buddy bottle be tested?

The first Supertens were sold with a steel bottle with rounded base, these should no longer be used and anyone with this type of bottle should replace it with a new aluminium bottle.

Aluminium bottles without a PI mark on them should be tested after five years of date of manufacture, bottles with the PI mark should be tested after ten years. For details of how to have a bottle tested contact Luxfer Gases 0115 980 3800 or Midland Diving Centre 0116 212 4262.

Caution

Only dry divers' air should be used in any pre-charged gun. Do not attempt to fill the buddy bottle with oxygen or any other gas doing so could cause a serious explosion

NOTE.

Some companies offer a service fitting quick fill adaptors to buddy bottles, these are tapped into the base of the bottle. On no account have this type of work undertaken, or purchase a bottle that has been modified in this way as it will substantially weaken the bottle making it potentially lethal and invalidate any guarantee."

so anyone know what a PI mark is?
