thurso jack 3
Welshnutter was in the area on his holidays and had his dog with him, so we met up last nite for a shine on some of my ground. He had his little bitch with him a collie/whippet/grey (i think thats correct, im sure WN will put me right?) and i had my saluki/deer/grey. Being the end of the season rabbits were a bit thin on the ground and with not a breath of wind conditions werent ideal, but WN had driven over an hour to get here so we were going out regardless!! Had a nice couple of hours out and as expected not a lot about but what was there was acconted for and the dogs ran well not missing any that they shouldnt have and only the ones that were a few hundered yards away were escaping, im sure welsh nutter will agree there was some hollywood slips happening due to the shortage of quarry and the dogs were being slipped often unsighted of the rabbits and had to trust there was something there and follow the beam, but they did well and didnt miss many. unfortunatley our night was cut short as WN dog took a nock on her hind foot, i hope shes ok today? Anyway WN it was a pleasure to meet up with you and i had a very enjoybale couple of hours The nights bag, only 15 but all wised up bunnys and all hard fought for!! ps henry the hoover in the right of the pic caught feck all, who ever called him that was havin a laugh!! Thanks Thurso for inviting me for a shine up North - the drive was worth it as it was a good night. very hard going terrain, but the dogs did well. we had some very good courses - especially with the rabbits running back up the beam. Nice show of acrobatic rabbits! am having a great holiday in scotland - been out everynight (although sometimes for just half an hour) and managing to get a good number of rabbits. Tessa still holding her back leg, but everything seems to be ok - theres no pain when i move it and her toes etc seem fine. I think i've over done it cos i've been ferreting with them in the day as well as lamping at night (got to make the most of the holiday and the end of the season!). I'll rest her for a couple more days and see how she goes. I might be coming up again in a couple of weeks - will let you know - cheers mate Quote Link to post
