yes mate the trap we have up at the chickens dont have one and its a balls ache to keep putting bait in , the farmer has plenty of the wire in and just wanted to know people thought cus we was hoping to make a couple and sell them

if that door just drops and you have no locking bar a fox will open that door and be gone try and design a door that cant be pushed back open iv seen foxes biting doors with their teeth and pullinng it just needs to get a foot under and its away just my opinion mate the length and strength are good only the door is at fault

That's all I would have added Woodga - a solid steel sheet door would stop that, or a locking device.

 

I have also had experience of cats clawing through the mesh to get the bait and setting it off (watched them do it), a quick second wrap with 1/2" x 1" fine mesh at the bait end would stop that too.

 

It looks heavy which is good from the point of view that the fox cannot tip it once he's in and get out that way which also happens - that can be avoided by a foot long wire staple put through the base into the ground at the front and back.

i have one exactly the same, but i have attached bungy cords on to the top the door to the base of the trap so that it cannot lift the door back up again. it also shuts quicker.

heres a tip for any body thats making them , make your next one ever so slightly smaller in all dimentions, and the next one after that , ever so slightly smaller.

 

then you can fit them inside each other

 

by doing this you can take more than one trap out at a time , if you have a small van or only a car.

the door system can be changed or adjusted i think

still im not an expert on this kind of thing

its twice as heavy as the last one but dont think its bad for my second attempt

its not your eyes JOHN B it does look small in the picture

do you think they would be easy to sell if i put a bit of the advice you guys gave me ?

How did you join the edges of the wire ? Clips ?Welding? Looks a lot neater than my skip job (below),but as people are saying it needs a rigid ,solid door . ..Stinky grabs the mesh with his teeth and lifts that door an inch,gets his toes underneath,then his nose -he's out. Still you can use the mesh on your next trap because it does look good enough to sell.

its welding that we joined it with and there's a few people that has pm me and says how neat it is , it's very heavy and the door is heavy and soild but i do know what you meen as it will only need a inch or so ... and stinky will be out , and as for selling it if had a few people with diffrent prices to sell it to them but dont know how much they go for so if any-one has any idea of what they make pm me thanks
