it all started years ago keepers used to breed a few white ones to find out if poachers was visiting his pens because if they went mising he new he had visitors
must be some thick poachers :whistling: ....surley a man who knew his job would leave the white ones .....ah well it takes allsorts ... :clapper::clapper::clapper:

thats human instinct if its diferent they want it

 

you could have somthing there :victory: ...but i think there three diffrent kind off poachers ...one for the pot ....one who in it for the money the selling of game ....and then theres the trophy hunters ...a true poacher would leave the white one where it is ..... :victory:

whatever they enjoy or need to do... none of my bussiness whatever they do really :victory: .....i suppose if i had too poach it would be for the meat ..for me and the dogs ..........

I have guniea fowl wandering around my ground,, And there is a few darker coulared birds around,, The fowl are not to be shot under any circumstanses. My lurcher is 100% steady with them.

sorry to steal the post but are there many on here that take pheasants with their dogs? if so is it mainly the collie crosses that are good at it?

My beddys jumped on a couple of them now but they've gotten away. Is there any tips or tricks to hunting them with dogs or is it just luck and catching them in heavy enough cover?

iv never been able to throw my dog high enough to catch one :icon_redface:

my beddy grey bitch takes pheasant and partridge regular saluki grey cattle dog grey has taken geese aswell...only trick they need is to be commited as they can pull out the sky when they make a dart for it..........

 

yes commitment must be the trick.

last time mine flushed one it flew out a couple feet off the ground and she made a good dart for it but didnt stryke, she held back at the last second....
