Wrap up Warm

Recommended Posts

were my instructions this morning, after the last time we were out when I was freezing cold and couldnt stop my teeth a chattering. Well this morning was officially "British Summer Time" :clapper: but still a little cold

Set off an hour earlier than normal, thanks to the clocks changing overnight  Nuala was back out with us as her season has thankfully finished, seemed like part of the team was missing without her last time we were out , its surprising what difference it makes and infact how even Indie missed her.

As would be expected, we didnt get lots of bolts today, the jills are now in season and we took our old hob ferret and his grandson out for the first time. The young hob did very well considering he'd never been out before.

Excellent post again Keeps, do you have any problems ferreting in woodland with the dogs, have they had any accidents at all? the reason i am asking is that ive a new pup and he should be ready for next season but most of my ferreting ground is orchard.

My question exactly, hows the pup Magwitch?

Well I don't like to tempt fate but so far nothing serious, one or two minor injuries and scrapes that you would expect from running through branches, twigs sticking out etc. The dogs were brought up ferreting that way, so they have learned to adjust and weave their way through the woods. I sometimes watch them and wince - it does make your heart beat a little faster at times, but like I say, they are used to it :)

He's coming a long fine Lee he's marking very well jumping the longnets and he's even caught a few without the net, he's straight in there no messing.

keeps is the beardieX a hancock bred dog by any chance and if so you must be pleased with her efforts I would think

No jigsaw he was bred by a lad who lives near me who works his dogs to a very high standard, but does go back to a hancock beardie (Findlay) and yes I am delighted with him.

Great set of pics Keeps of what looks like a good day out.

Love the pic of your black dog laying down at the end, just captures a moment and to me, re-enforces why we are so taken with these cross bred dogs...... stunning.
