Recommended Posts

ive recently bought a nissan patrol gr 98 model y61 and i would like to give her a supension lift but i cant afford to replace the full lot so i was thinking about fitting spacers onto her but the only ones i can find are for the gu model which i think is the austalian model would these fit or does anybody know where i could find them for a gr model. i would also like to know what are the biggest wheel and tyre combo i can fit on her at her standard height i dont mean big alloys i want more rubber than meatal ive been googleing it for weeks now and i end up going round in circles and not finding out what i want to know. thank you in advance any infomation is appreciated

Even if you fit spacers & bigger wheels you will still have to put longer shocks on it as they'll be doing bugger all. Handy if you want to go over a kerb & make it feel like a huge boulder smacking the chassis.

i dont understand why wont the shockers be doing anything if you put spacers on surly your just moving the axel further away from the chasies and the shockers work as per usual but giving you a couple off inch more ground clearence. and im hoping that bigger wheels and tyres will add a couple of inches on top of that. that way all the suspension is set up as nissan intended except i will have a bit more ground clearance which i think she needs she is seven inches lower than the defender i just sold and with a worst approch and decent angle and four and a half inch longer wheel base so i think a lift is defenatly in order just that the pennys cant strech enough to do a full supension replacemant

there's a place that advertises in the back page of the 4x4 mags that specializes in replacement springs and shocks.. ive used em a few times ,, its proberly 300 notes for taller shocks and coils the last set i bought was for a y60.... make sure when fitting the shocks u get them the right way up otherwise it bounces like boat ............. p.s its a peice of cake to fit undo the anti roll bars,, the fuel pipe clips and the air hose to the rear diff-lock then place a jack under the axle and one on the chassis ,, remove the wheel, jack up the chassis and let the axle jack down... also dont bother fitting the anti-roll-bar back on the patrol , completely remove it, this will give more axle articulation.. dont try fitting 15 inch wheels they wont clear the brake calliper <unless you grind em down> thats what i done on my old 3.3's for off-road event's
