Im buying a new computer and was wondering which one is best ,ive got £550 to spend on either a dell or a hp for general use , whats your opinions?

If you need it right now HP is available from PCWorld.

But if you want value for money and a PC that lasts beyond warranty get a Dell. I always use Dell servers and desktops at work and have no problems. The handfull of HPs I've inherited have all gone tits up with few exceptions.

Is this you Shaun :whistling:

dell_tat.jpg

No my tatoo is on my arse as a barcode :whistling:

No really, I spend other peoples money and so I'm accountable. Dell have been totally reliable in my commercial and personal experience.

If you know of a crippling problem which covers the dell range of machines I would love to know as it may save me embarressment in the future.

DELL ?!? :censored: I'll tell ye about f*ckin Dell!

I bought an all singing, all dancing, upper range beauty off them. " That has a one year warrenty. Would ye like to upgrade that? " Why on earth would I? I says. Bloody thing's costing me Eight Hundred Quid; Surely it'll last more than a year?

Yeah. F*ckin right. One Year and Four F*cking Days!!! Blue screen. Bleeps. Everything but Anything!

'Hullo, Dell? My beautiful godess has gone tits up! What's going on?' " Oh, " they sneer. " That'll be the Mother Board. And, as you're four days out of years Warrenty? Ye have to buy another one. From Us. Nothing else out there's gonna fit it, see? We Make Them That Way! Four Hundred Pounds! "

I'm like; " :icon_eek: " and spluttered as much. Response? " Look; Do you want this Mother Board or Not?! " :icon_eek:

F*cking c***ing b*stards!

I ripped all my drives out and flogged the carcass on the Bay for seventy quid. And ye think I'll ever hear those c***s fawned over, without repeating my Own experience again? Get F*cking Real!

Just wait till it hits the fan. See what they're Really like then.

For my money? Packard Bell. Though my next will most likely be a Mac. I don't take kindly to being Nannyed. Not by ye govt or Bill Gates.

Personally speaking ............

I'd definitely buy Hewlett Packard, and I'd buy it from Staples, excellent customer service and the staff seem to know their stuff, I'd avoid PC World/Dixons/Currys, I worked for them briefly, they are absolutely wank at customer service, they are there to sell sell sell, regardless of what you want or need.

Staples quite often have end of line deals or shop models, that come with the full warranty.

I'm writing this on a HP desktop PC, looking at a HP LCD monitor, both bought from Staples, honestly you won't go wrong
