Well, got a busy day tomorrow, Got the lad & wife recruited into doing a bit of hard labour ;):D:D We've been feeding some meat birds up with the layers and I feel its time to do the deed  They've had Lots & Lots of T.L.C. & damn good grub over the last 14 weeks or so, & now its time to 'reap' the benefit so to speak!!!!

We had one for last sunday lunch & it was bloody fantastic.....moist & Tasty!!!!! So got a few sales & the rest are in the freezer, I was thinking of just killing one when we wanted one.......but they feckin' eat for England!!! :snack::snack::snack: & as this bloody corn keeps going up & up thought it best to do them all at once..........Going to have to look up some chicken recipies........don't want to get bored with just roasting :clapper::D;)

Feed Us as well!!!!!!!!!!!

Finished after about 4hrs :drinks: Did well really........I had heard its easier to pluck them while they're still warm  I didn't find this to be the case at all.....So left the other carcasses to cool for just over an hour or so........I found the skin tore easily when warm but not a rip in Any I left to cool.....but nearly EVERYTHING I've read insists that its easier.....but hey..I like to be different........would be interesting to see if anyone has found this to be the case with them also?????

Sorry I didn't take any picks of them after plucking......but had to put 9 in the freezer, so will put up a pic of the first one we defrost........

They killed out between 6.25lbs. & 9.5lbs for the cocks of which I had 6...but averaged 8 - 8.5lbs. so was well pleased!

The layers seem ALOT happier not having to compete with the food now :11: :11: :snack::snack:

They're just kicking in laying now at 19 weeks!!!!! :clapper::clapper:

Excellent work! Cant beat home reared chucks ;)

Next time, get an old birco boiler if you can, hot, but not boiling water( you should only just be able to put your hand in it ) , and a bin of cold water next to it....

Dip them for about 10 seconds in hot, then straight into the cold, and you can pluck right away. There's less mess as the feathers are wet and clag together, and you "shouldn't" get any skin tears!
