as above how many of you homeload or just use factory ammo.

or do some of you use both still

and why do you homeload because it works out cheaper ? or to make your rifle more accurate

or do you think factory ammo is as accurate as you need for vermin control and factory ammo is only really needed for target comps.

after home loading, i would never use factory again, its not consistent enough for me only shoots an inch on a good day all over the place with them, here's a 10 shot group shot with home loads, and will shoot like this all day long.

heres another ten shot group and nine of them go under a penny, thats the sort of accuracy you want , shooting groups like this give you bags of confidence when it comes down to live quarry. you dont get consistency this with factory ammo.

I put 'factory ammo as i cant be bothered to homeload' but am into shotgun reloading for ducks and geese non toxic etc, and have just had a .222 so am looking to get started soon i hope.

I have just been watching some videos of Barnes Varmint Grenades on youtube, talk about explosive, mite try some of them now.

thanks

I homeload as 12yrs ago factory ammo was limited but is better now with choice & consistanty.Powder/heads etc have went through the roof but it is still cheaper than factory stuff. Once you get a load your happy with its quite easy & you learn a system that works for you & load 100 at a time no probs or 50 at a time. Its good as you can try diffrent things & see what your rifle likes but you can load for certian quarry.

I WOULD LIKE TO HOME LOAD CARTRIDGES FOR THE 12BORE BUT DONT KNOW HOW SO I HAVNT VOTED

I load for a 12b, non toxic stuff for ducks and geese using very high velocity steel. some of the 3 1/2" goose loads are travelling at just over 1700 fps which is incredibly fast for a 12 b.

It is easy once you have all the components but startup costs are high and there is not a great deal of choice for shotgun reloading in the UK. Metallic reloading is far easier.

I have also began to load a few bismuth shells for my 8bore,which i have had for a few months now, as i now have cases, wads, and black powder, after the rigmarole of getting an explosives license.

I use the Lee Load all II for the 12b and it does everything i need, crimping a 3 1/2" case can be tricky though, the press is cheap enough its when you begin to buy shot, powder, scales, wads and primers things start to get expensive, i now have around 6 different powders, 6 types of shot to say nothing of sizes, but i enjoy it and i dont load thousands so its ok.

MidwayUk.com is good to start with.

Hope this helps
