Crayfish "Hunting" where to start.

Ok so i want to take up crayfish "hunting" i want to catch crayfish and eat em.

And i`m hoping that someone on here could tell me where to start, e.g are there any laws what equipment is needed, clothes etc.

I`m am a complete novice and have no idea where to start.

Any help his greatly appreciated

Yes i think a licence is needed allthough im not sure, there will be a few guys on here which will be able to point you in the right direction.

i salmon fish on the river tees and it lifting with the signal cray fish. but dont no what the law is for taking them

there shouldnt be any cos eat all the fish eggs.

If you set traps beware its not unknown for an otter to get stuck in em and drown!

we used to put a heavy screw at one end of a line and then tie a crocodile clip just above put a bit of bacon on the clip take a net with ya

an ya ready to go we used to catch loads like this hope it helps

River Lea estuary of the Thames is full of them. In some places its a nightmare to fish. Eat the critters. Ask in your tackle shops they should have some traps in one of their cataloges .
