wouldnt and will never keep a dog for one purpose i remember many years ago a guy says to me a good lurcher should be good at most tasks but master of none , i wouldnt have a dog if he exeled at one thing only, as at diffrent times of the season and weather i hunt whats on offer alway will , a great nite time wind maybe not good for daylite and vice versa if you want to hunt all the time in winter you have to play the weather and animlas youre after only way ,

well if you ever get a dog that excels at catching hares daytime , ill gladly take it off your hands :clapper:

had dogs that were good daytime hare dogs and would have been very good, shadow, but after a season or to of roe when it was legal rabbiting etc they soon learn diffrent tricks that spiol them for coursing , for daytime consistently you need to keep them at it, as once the tast e luvly jubbly roe they say f**k you to mr hare give me some of that instead , all the dogs saluk crosses ive got are bred out of good hare killers match dogs comp winners but after two or three season lamping roe rabbs hares they are never going to be the same , but the breedings there for future use all the best mate

i think he really does think hes funny i find him more funny when hes not trying to be funny, you can tell a lot by some peoples post. I think dog on likes being in the spotlight ( being the center of attention) trouble is mark seem to take it all LOL and theres none left for poor old dog on.

Yep i keep pure desert bred salukis and till the other year when my old bitch had to be put to sleep i kept saluki crosses, with some of the same blood as yours have.

Now that one type of dog i would love to see run,a galgo. friends of mine go every year to Spain and run hare with galgo owners and their dogs.

you talk some load of pish dog on , ive always been my own man hence ive always worked for my self since an adult etc and never anybody elses puppet , plus the type of things i get upto isnt for puppets im afraid and well the comps a bit of serious dog crack but well some dont like it ,i dont need to shout fight fight fight ,as i says before if your ever up this way and fancy a walk out your welcome , and weel hunt fish what you fancy , youll get looked after , there several come up for a hunt and all had a good time and some came and the wearther was on our side and had a great time , i like walking out with genuine hunting souls only way and always will ,but no time for pretenders or people who are time wasters all the best

Ive been out with whin on his permission and what he says is right  I'd definately go up there again - no problem!

a good big un will always beat a good little un imo.

ive seen this quoted to death over the years, and i still dont believe it to be absolutly true.

ok were back on track i agree jacob,i dont think for one minute its better to have a good big one over a good little one, little i say 21 to 23 big 26 to 28,no way unless its for other stuff pr ban were talking rabbit hare and fox with the odd roe thrown in,pre ban, disadvantages of big ones out way there advantages especally now, mark

marky we will find out next season, as we have had this discussion on another board, and as long as in the mean time you dont convince me your too much of a tit to invite up,we will see how a big dog (27" compares to a little dog 21") as an allrounder and as a rabbit dog we will try it all, no competition or hard feelings just a bit of banter and fun ;)

jules there more permiss on the go for you to get your ass up , i was going to stop rabbiting but got some bankings need clearing and a very posh large house with forty acres of land going this morning girl , ill take a dog leashed up as there will maybe be some roe, about, but keep in touch , the local hornies are getting to no me which is not good but you cant go and pillage now in these small country parts without a bit heat its al fun to me they cant hang you nowadays ahah have you still got thre picture of the dogs in the police car it was funny
