RIZZINI SHOTGUNS

Recommended Posts

Hi Peeps,

New kid on the block here!

Joined the forum yesterday and have enjoyed following all the different discussions going on across the spectrum - some of them quite lively - good stuff!

Some of you might have read my introductory post in the 'new members' section - I am looking to buy a second-hand O/U 12g. game gun. I saw a good looking Rizzini 28" 1/4 & 1/2 O/U in my local gunshop today but know absolutely nothing about the make. It felt good to hand and mounted nicely but I just don't know......... it's just a name to me!!

They want £550 for it - it is in immaculate condition but I can't compare it to anything!

Anyone got an opinion on Rizzini guns?

Any idea what they cost new?

Any help at all will be great!

Thanks,

John.

Hello John and welcome. I am a browning man myself, though I bought my eldest a 20g Rizzini mainly because of the 13" stock. It fires ok and hits the spot though the action and trigger feel a bit........cheap. Although this coould just be this gun and how its been treated as it is second hand. Like I said though it does the job. A little bit more and you could pick up a Beretta or Browning, a far better gun.

Thanks Macberran,

I think you are probably right - I just need to be patient and get the right 686!

the Rizzini I looked at today felt very tight but didn't feel too smoothly machined - I put it down to the fact that the gun had been on the rack for a while and was virtually new!

cheers,

John.

Good looking guns too.

I saw a couple in the shop today but didn't try them - should've had a better look!

Have you got one?

Craps a little harsh.......i got a rizzini as someone offered me a next to new gun for £50.....i really like it, could do with fitting better but thats nothing to do with manufacturers, no guns fit me well off the shelf

my rizzini has done 4 years of abusive use, didn't even have a cleaning set for 18months and the only thing is the chokes rusted but it was prob wet when i put it away.......from time to time the internals seem to get dirty which may make them feel rough but all in i like it and would have another at a snap

okrang, look athe avalon guns website. They do great guns at good prices mate.

Good evening Wingshooter,

Thank you for your helpful suggestions - I'm afraid I gave up last night - with all the hassle from that troll!

I checked out Bettinsoli guns and they are a very reassonable price and the styling at the top end is quality but I am after a 28" fixed choke gun for predominantly game shooting (and the occasional 'social' clay shooting!).

The Avalon site is brilliant - good selection of guns and competitive pricing too - thanks for suggesting it. I have e-mailed them regarding a s/h Beretta 686 Special they have for sale and will see if it's a deal!

Cheers mate,

John.

Hi OKrang, you could do worse than look at a Lanber?

Bog standard guns with no frills but do the job.

Cheers

Aled

Thanks Aled,

I think I now have my heart set on a s/h 686 - will get the most decent one I can afford and see if they are all they are cracked up to be!

Cheers pal,

John.

Evening Peeps,

I'm sure that with a Rizzini I would get a good basic gun with a touch of Italian styling but I am trying to get a bit more on the refined engineering and reliability front. Can't afford to buy that new so will go for the best 686 I can find at around £700 - 800!

Thanks for your replies!

Cheers,

John.
