donnyc 1,203
Problem is a lot of vets do not want the publicity mine doesnt ..There is one in Middlesex does them and one in Oxfordshire ..Whatever Ill always have docked ones although Ive seen hundreds undocked that dont look out of place its the trick of getting them to hold them high without curling . Mine have always been docked longer than most . Quote Link to post

cwn annwfn 0
I am not from UK but I would like to give you an idea how it was in the past on continental europe. We are not allowed to dock our dogs for several years in Austria, it is not about showing, it is simply forbidden. In the beginning many hunters complained about it and yes it was looking strange in the beginning. When we were on Crufts this year the majority was docked and our dogs are looking different to them, probably a docked one is looking more balanced. Anyway, at the end of the day we work our terrier heavily and I have never been in a situation were the tail was a problem. So from my opinion if you would simply reduce your terrier to "working ability" the tail makes no difference. But I do understand from several discussions that there is a political component in it and it is another point for the Anti. But with all my respect, you should not reduce the working ability of a terrier to the length of its tail. Our foxes and badger don't care about our terriers tail, so we should not do it either Quote Link to post
