Guest the dogs bollok
what would happen if my ferret was to come across a stote or another predator down the hole. im curious because i think my ferret was fighting it did not sound like a rabbit. Quote Link to post
kiwi 4
i'd put my money on a wild stoat over a tame ferret. the ones we get here are the size of small jills anyway. i used to do the ferreting years back and had this happen the smell and banging coming out of the bunny hole was huge. my ferret came off second best and the mother stoat and her kits walked straight into my lab and foxterriers, result 8 stoats and a few more ground birds that summer. wild ferret to stoat would be different as we get them here as well and they grow big and woolie. swanseajack 227
The difference between a stoat and a weasel ........ A weasels's weasonably wecogniseable and a stoat's stoatally different.... Quote Link to post

Guest knocavoeboy
any good sized ferret would win they may be domesticated so are terries and they can paste afox any of the ones i had would have wasted a stoat no contest. though i like stoats so would not have wanted to killl one i have only seenabout three Quote Link to post
kiwi 4
one of my best ever terriers bailed a mum stoat with kits one day and she showed him a thing or two, he wouldn't even go into the blackberry after her, and he was a bloody hard dog who had been on some very good boars and his possum tally was in the thousands. my old lab however was a devil on them and killed hundreds in his 14yrs he was great with ferrets but be had a thing for stoats. pegandgun 52
Its sometimes the stench of the musk glands that put dogs of killing mustalids. I agree with Millet,a ferret is alot tougher animal than people might think.A stoat would give too much size and waight away.. Quote Link to post
David 9
what about the old saying, its not the size of the animal its the size of the fight in it,those stoats are tough little things Quote Link to post
JOHNBOY 18
seen stoats bolting to the ferret before, but tried a single holer once on a banking after a mark from the dog stuck in a big dog ferret came straight back out and wouldnt re enter turns out 2 be a mink hissing n spitting like a b*****d, if i was a ferret i wouldn face it either litl black devils ! but a ferret would tan a stoat or weasel if it had to Quote Link to post
