richie 1
went out first thing this morning to check a few traps i set in a garden yesterday.. i removed the piece of turf & thought result ! my first double catch..... i removed the trap & it wasnt to be.. still caught the one i was after.. before putting the trap back in the ground i reset both sides again, i triggered the caught side off again & it set the other side off, probably explain why both sides went off. a little adjusting & it seems ok now.. im still waiting for my double catch.. Rolfe 2
Often the trap firing sets off the other trigger.........and also the trapped mole will set it off as well. My best double ever was a mole at one end and a weasel in the other.....before the days of digital camera's though, but i wish i had taken a picture. Rolfe. Quote Link to post

mole trapper 1,694
AT THIS TIME OF YEAR WE GET MANY DOUBLES FOR OBVIOUS REASONS, BUT I HAVE NEVER CAUGHT A WEASEL, THE ONLY NON TARGET SPECIES I HAVE EVER HAD WAS LAST YEAR, IT WAS A SHREW IN A DOMESTIC HANDKERCHIEF JOB I DID IN SOUTH DEVON. Oops, sorry about the shouting, not intended. Regards MT. Quote Link to post

richie 1
this is a conspiracy ! :glare: Only a few today all singles fair play.... how many traps did you have down to get them, or how many effected areas... ? got this one today on the same trap as i got the last 2 in a few days, he was coming from the other direction.. on the 15th now from this garden. on certain sections the ground collapses from under your feet, the earth is riddled with tunnels, the ground feels spongey. heart of wales 19
Picked this one up this morning along with twelve others from 24 traps laid,I normally aim to put two down to each mole,if you have trouble with collapsing soil try using the talpex traps they are shit hot for them kind of conditions.
