a double with the duffus ?

Recommended Posts

went out first thing this morning to check a few traps i set in a garden yesterday..

i removed the piece of turf & thought result ! my first double catch.....

i removed the trap & it wasnt to be.. still caught the one i was after.. ;)

before putting the trap back in the ground i reset both sides again, i triggered the caught side off again & it set the other side off, probably explain why both sides went off. a little adjusting & it seems ok now..

im still waiting for my double catch..

Often the trap firing sets off the other trigger.........and also the trapped mole will set it off as well.

My best double ever was a mole at one end and a weasel in the other.....before the days of digital camera's though, but i wish i had taken a picture.

very interesting Rolfe, I've had loads of doubles, but it's always been two moles.

As a matter of interest ...............i have trapped many weasels in mole traps.........just wondered if anyone else had?

AT THIS TIME OF YEAR WE GET MANY DOUBLES FOR OBVIOUS REASONS, BUT I HAVE NEVER CAUGHT A WEASEL, THE ONLY NON TARGET SPECIES I HAVE EVER HAD WAS LAST YEAR, IT WAS A SHREW IN A DOMESTIC HANDKERCHIEF JOB I DID IN SOUTH DEVON.

Oops, sorry about the shouting, not intended.

had a couple of weasels ,a small bitch stoat and two water voles, unfortunatly, one was a double with a mole, when i used scissor traps many years ago , i used to catch quite a few mice and field voles

how many traps did you have down to get them, or how many effected areas... ?

got this one today on the same trap as i got the last 2 in a few days, he was coming from the other direction..

on the 15th now from this garden.

on certain sections the ground collapses from under your feet, the earth is riddled with tunnels, the ground feels spongey.
