richie 1
it's not hard to use at all , it's the collars packing up that gets on my goat. picks up spongebob squarepants easter eggs ok tho so thats the main thing are they packing up because of the batteries being dead?, cant understand any other reason, as they dont have moving parts to them, its a doddle to use, only down side is you sometimes need 2 hands to use them when you have to adjust the pin pointer which is used for the same purpose as the mk1 wheel. are you saying that pin point thingy actully does more than just turns the sound off? thats what makes most users, think they are useless, using it only to turn the sound down its used to fine tune the signal, which leads you to the fert, if the pinpoint aint used, people may as well chuck it in the bin some users dont realise that steve... by using it without any sound, "pinpointer turned all the way down" will still tell the user the depth but only a rough position over an area. this is when the pinpointer is used as a squelch, its called a pinpointer for a reason, not a volume control ! Guest bigredbusa
has anyone said they cant use it ? lol i have a collar that sends a signal when it wants too and that is what i will be sending back . apart from that and the collars slip off small jills and apart from not having a volume control and it picks up mobile phones and local taxi firms it is nice

richie 1
do you know what makes me laugh... when you ever call deben to complain or to explain what problems your having, the woman who answers the phone always says: " your the first person to have that problem "... must admit though, the only ever problem i had with my mk3 was the nylon collars coming off my small jills no matter how tight i done them up, sorted by putting mk1 leather collars on. stubby 175
there's been so many saying the collars slip off, how about making an extra hole in the collar, for those small jills, have found that sometimes the collars to be erratic, but feel this is due to people searching to quick, say after only 20 mins or so, if the ferret is moving, YOU DO get some erratic signals from the locator, if the ferret is moving, put the locator back in your pocket, the fert is doing its job, its only once the fert has not appeared for a much longer time, or all the other ferts have shown themselves the mk3 can be used best to find a stationary ferret, bottled up or on a kill, then as richie says, you can get within 6" of the stinkers
Guest bigredbusa
stubby i dont want to sound off but i do know how to use a ferret finder i replaced the collar for a leather one and that slipping problem has been solved but... the collar is not very water proof and is suffering from rusty batteries at the end of the day , i went out saturday and it packed up completly , i get home give it a pinch and is working again (hence the easter egg hunt) . my guess a faulty collar as i always replace batteries and the problem is only with this one collar.
