TOMO 26,450
Different ways... I aint the dog whisperer i took my dog on the lamp when it missed i turned the lamp off and called it back it came straight back.. Took it ferreting in the daytime and just let it watch and gave it a few slipped rabbits.. I had a good level of obedience before may dog even seen game.. The bond with the dog is what I found helped me my dog want to to please me not its self... But what i found was from the very beginning and i never even encountered problems was go on dark nights by yourself no mates or other dogs when your dog misses knock the lamp straight off. This was what i did it worked for me my dog has never messed about or been head strong so i have had it easy... i know a loads of boys who work there dogs day and night.. Loads of miles more experiance people on here that can help you i am just a sappling myself.. well said giro, i cant belive all this stuff about ferreting dogs not lamping . its all about recall, recall, recall, the dog knows the diffrence between whats expected at night and day time . and heres somthing that will mess hith some of yous fellas heads. ocasionaly on the lamp i want the dog to use its nose now i dont mean fecking off over the fields , but in close withinn 50 yrds . somtimes on real rough long grass , set aside that kind of thing . its a real bonus when you can get the dog doing this. Guest dog on
i dnt have loads of experience 1 year to be precise and i did same as u with lamp training and worked to good effect, but what ive found starting him with the ferretslong before lamping worked a great deal and now he does both well barring the od ones he will miss as they do he is 12 month and on lamp i can have him beside me no lead lamp one rabbit if he misses shine straight on another and if he takes that straight back to hand and i dont have to walk up and down a fielfd looking for a run the lamp does that and dog follows every movment untill it switched off then back 2 hand so i think u can have a day night dog this is the only time i have seen some one do what i do dont put dog on lead i dont under stand why others dont do it .the dog learns 10 times more than being sliped all the time plus it learns to sus things out for its self .any body else do this if not why not Quote Link to post
