[went out last night for a mooch through the barns to see what about managed to kill 17 rats in total

Never shot rats... might give it a go. My inlaws have a house next to a dairy farm where I have my permissions. Maybe I could set up a hide and ambush them. Day or night best?

 

17 is excellent by the way!

Get stuck in mate, it's great fun and you're doing a valuable service too. I shoot rats by day and night, small lamp with red filter. Best advice for ratting is patience.

I love rat shooting. I use .22lr with 35ft/lb bullets or air rifle with .22 RWS super H points.

I've seen that Bsa set up trapsy are they worth the cash mate?

absolutley mate , powerful, batteries last ages, and metal casings, you can pick em up for about £45
