whin 463
for me a nice roe you can either eat it barter it or sell it a hares great but some times a lot of energy for the catch in the end ,unless you get him quick , ive no fav qaurry , but roe is good veni good sausages easy to carry well some are , good liver etc and enough to keep you going in meat and the dogs etc for a while , i love a chase at a hard daylite winter hare , not a sep stubble hare which has not found his bearings yet , bolting rabbitd to decent dogs is great sport so is digging a fox thats been pestering pheasants or hens , ive no favorite as they have all been good to me for sport and food and money over the last thirty yrs all the best Quote Link to post

whin 463
ye i do but all in all ive chased them in wooded areas takes a good dog to catch them as they no every route of escape caught red hinds sika stag and hind fallow does , the bigger they were the less fun i thought as they were not as fast or as wise as the roe localy who have had thirtyy yrs and big doesnt mean itt runs faster it definatly will fight harder so you compensate ie two strong dogs not one but found they buckled all the same in the end never caught red stags with dogs but been in company shooting them , coyotes are great qaurry etc to me there should never be an ultimate as each persons define is very diffrent , people who put ultimate qaurry etc try bear hunting with a pack of hounds its fun and the bear can realy fight or feral hog hunting done that very exiting and they hogs are tough etc , cant see an ultimate all the best Quote Link to post

whin 463
a red stag would be a challenge mate with any running dog but im a realist if we had red localy i know i would try them as i have up north and down south in east anglia , , now my country men a long time ago hunted red deer with scottish deerhounds so it was done ,and i have chased them reds with dogs but many years ago , but realy im into chase kill it quick and get to fech , and any the bigger species ive caught were not a five minute chase , i went through a wood one nite they had caught a hind red , whaT A fecher to get her out, the car was lying in the middle of a field i had to drag the beastie etc with a yokel who was clueles, it was a laugh as we had afew pints and good clothes on hung it up in the motherilaws back yard etc madness Quote Link to post
