I have a cheapie plastic version off e-bay, but to be honest, it works just as well.All these tools should ensure you don't squeeze the contaminated blood back into the host. The old "burn the bum with a fag,and twist it off by hand" used to terrify me!! geoff till a few weeks ago i had no idea that covering them in vaserline did exactly that, made them push the contaminated blood they have helped themselves to back into the ferret /dog , its so easily avoided by using the tick pickers & i had my eyes opened for sure Quote Link to post

It don't seem to bother the fert either. ive tried them metal looped ones that are suspose to go over the tick the you pinch them together & pull the tick out, load of shit ! your right maltenby, these ones are capable of taking the tiniest ticks off, ones you can just about see. £5 from pets at home Quote Link to post
