Guest JohnGalway
Hi Arcpest, I have a Sako Quad in .22lr synthetic stock. I love mine it's lightweight, and accurate I have two issues with it, which I believe to be common to all synthetic Quads at least. First is simple, the stock is too short, but butt spacers are available so that can be fixed easily. Second is a bit more complicated. Alternatively fired case's and unfired bullets are failed to be ejected when you life and pull the bolt back. My .22lr started out not always ejecting fired cases. Now it 100% always ejects them but it has trouble ejecting unfired live bullets. This, as far as I can see, is because the soft head of the bullet (I'm using Eley subsonics) gets ever so slightly wedged in the start of the barrel and it's just stuck enough to fail to be pulled out as it should. That in no way puts me off liking this rifle a lot. I carry with me a small allen key which will pry out the live round should I need to, or alternatively I can just fire it into a safe backstop. I've also shot two other synthetic stocked .17HMR barreled Quads. Lovely accurate rifles, again stock is slightly too short but again spacers are available. I'm very happy I bought mine Quote Link to post

In my view a real top quality rifle. It's very accurate and great to use. I've heard of the problem of not ejecting live rounds. I've never had a problem with mine, some people have had barrels changed under warranty. Hope this is useful. Quote Link to post

The problem only affects .22lr AFAIK, and that's just with certain rounds Quote Link to post

I'm very happy I bought mine I had a similar problem using CCI subs in my finnfire varmint, after emailing the manufacturer they said it is down to the finnfire having a tight tolerance match chamber, low freebore.Excessive wax lube on the bullet (winchester subs) also causes problems, hard to extract fired cases due to build up of lube and lead when cycling. Keep your Sako clean. Quote Link to post
