motorised pushbike[petrol driven]

Recommended Posts

There are getting more electric motor assisted cycles about now, but I don't think there is much petrol stuff. I can't remember the name but I think there is one which drives the rear wheel by roller pressure on the tyre. There used to be the 1970's Raleigh "Wisp",which was a small wheeled bike with engine. Probably the one which was most common, was the "cyclemaster",an engine mounted in a reinforced wheel, which you fitted in place of the normal wheel. A throttle lever was mounted on the 'bars. As kids we used to call them "stinkwheels", a bunch of us got a bollocking off a policeman for belting up and down the street on one. He said, your untaxed, uninsured, underage for a license and you'll be under a truck next. Put it away, and don't let me catch you again! No more was done about it,and he never caught us again!! (This was in the 60's)
