Guest kill_that_rabbit
Awaiting the arrival of 2 more ferrets next week and have finished their quarters, minus the nest box & substrate. Tell me what you think or suggestions on improving. Hence the lino for easy cleaning and comfy "hammock". The catches are also temporary, until i get some real ones. ****NEW PICS COMING SOON WITH NEST BOX AND POSSIBILY 2ND FLOOR**** Edited March 20, 2008 by kill_that_rabbit Quote Link to post
sue 1
if i was you i would add another level if possible, the more the ferrets climb the stronger their muscles are for the up and coming season Quote Link to post

stubby 175
looks a good job mate, my only suggestion would be, to put the nest/sleeping box up in the wasted space up top, conecting to the base with a bendy tube, thus giving them max space at bottom Quote Link to post
Malt 379
Looks good, tidy workmanship there. Is that in your attic? Quote Link to post

danielt 1
If i was you I'd put the nest box up the top and make a platform for them so they are able to get up and down, or some bendy tubes. Quote Link to post
tote 854
That looks spot on mate. Like others have said I'd have the nest box off the floor aswell. Quote Link to post
trader 0
if i was you i would add another level if possible, the more the ferrets climb the stronger their muscles are for the up and coming season muscles, muscle tone ,more muscles more toning im begininng to wonder how much ferreting you have done a larger cage helps a ferret keep active thats about it it wont condition its self for working constant work gets ferrets fit, large kennel runs dont get greyhounds fit or they would be in massive runs Quote Link to post

There are loads of harnesses and collars that are meant to be use for just that. Dont intend to get one though, would look a bit weird for anyone else out with their dogs wouldn't it? richie 1
i dont believe in keeping ferrets couped up in a small cage or hutch... obviously it depends on how much space you have, but even if my ferrets were kept in a small hutch, i would add a long tube or pipe that would run up & down the garden to give them a run. i keep my 5 ferrets in a 6ft x 8ft shed. i took out the glass windows & replaced them with mesh & made one of the doors into a barn door, and i put pipes & shelves to different levels. i also believe the larger the courts is & the more objects they have to play on & climb the fitter they get, better than a ferret having 2 foot to pace around. Kay 3,709
Well a ferret who spends its whole life in a cramped cage is no good to anyone Quote Link to post
