bagforthebadgers 0
Im looking to get a new shotgun for myself to do some vermin control and was just wondering can anyone point me in a good direction in a good semi-automatic shotgun to get. I am on a budget of £2000 so something under that price would be really good. Any information will be gratefully recieved. Quote Link to post
trapper25 0
get yourself a berreta 391 ulrika ( synthetic ) had mine for about 4 years now and no problems 3 shot 3" chamber, i use it on clays as well as rough shooting and everyone whose tried it has liked it ive used it and abused it and no probs bought it second hand, it had only fired a couple of hundred rounds like new for £600 quid so youll have enough change for about 5 years worth of cartridges Quote Link to post

Well, with that sort of budget, just go and ask your dealer what's the most expensive semi he has, buy that and send me the change! If that doesn't work, buy a Beretta 391 (excellent) ...and still send me the change! Edited March 19, 2008 by Deker Quote Link to post
Geoff.C 0
You will not need to spend all your budget on a semi-auto. You may well be surprised how reasonable some of them are. Opinions will vary, but for my money, anything engraved "Beretta" will do you very well. Quote Link to post

runningdog 1
benelli super black eagle 2, the muts nuts mate. had mine 18 months, never cleaned a proper workhorse. i dont leave home without it. Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
Mr Beretta owns Benelli as well! My money is on the 391 as the better gun BUT the Benelli is much underated. It also uses a different load/eject system and stays internally cleaner than the Beretta. I love my 391, its my second semi from Beretta, but cleaning after a decent session can take an hour, and if I have neglected it just a bit, that can go up to 2 hours. The over and under is 10-20 minutes tops! The Benelli will not present the same cleaning problems as the Beretta, and Benelli are also one of the few to offer a true left handed semi! Something to think about! Quote Link to post
ryedaleratter 0
Hi, I bought a Remington 1187 when I first got my licence at 15, that was 14 years ago and it has never jammed once, bit of a heavy old beast compared to the modern synthetice ones though. A mate of mine shoots profesionally, and swears by his Bennelli, but most of my keepering mates use Berretta's and if I was to replace my Remmy I would go for one myself. The Escorts are cheap and nasty, my mate had one, and got sick of it breaking, so bought a second hand Berretta, no problems since. I don't know about having enough change for too many cartridges though, they have shot up in price recently, a days pigeon shooting can get to be a dear day ! Quote Link to post
bagforthebadgers 0
A friend of mine also had a Escort and in my opinion it was a load of ****! It always jams just as you get that good shot! I think ill give a good look in to these guns and find a good quality semi! Thanks to all who have helped so far. Quote Link to post
njc110381 0
If you're really looking for something special and don't mind spending your money, look up Cosmi shotguns. If you're a normal every day shooter like myself or most of the guys on here, you'll not be disappointed with a Beretta 391 for half your budget Quote Link to post
bagforthebadgers 0
Ill be using it for more than just pest control, but I think I have made my choice of gun, which seems to be really reliable.
