I have a couple of black fell terriers/patterdales (whatever), but i've seen good working borders, lakelands, russels and cross breds. All of them were trusted digging dogs.

If I'd started with say, borders, from good lines, and they worked well, then I would have stuck with them. Just happened to start with black'uns, so as im happy with them, im sticking with them!

in late 70s early 80s some good russels where around but last 10 or 15 years best ive seen are the black or red dogs for turning out highest % of workers not saying other types wont go but just most i know are keeping fell, pat types these days.

as long as they do the job asked of them then surely it dont matter.pink with red spots, but if they do wots asked then there you go.personally i would dye it black though. :clapper::clapper: a worker is a worker whatever colour.
