iv got a crakin ferret but im havin a prob with it.but i dont no wether it is as bad as it sounds, every time it kills a rabbit down the hole soon as you locate it and start too dig the little fecker moves it usualy will leave the rabbit when it has killed it an has resulted in me loosing a few conies down a warren, well [bANNED TEXT] i say a few i mean i few every outing, and i have been useing the ferret finder mk 2 and im still gettin used to it and i would like it if eany one would tell me [bANNED TEXT] they think of this locator as its the first 1 i have owned.you can call it sods law like but you have a ferret that kills and stays on it then loose it,buy a ferret locator and a new ferret and the little twat dosent stay on the coneys, dont get me wrong its a good worker and bolts coneys all day and earns its keep its just this little down fall,as no one likes too leave dead quary down a warren :no::no:

thanks jon

1M&HD, I wouldn't worry about it. I have a jill that does the same and if I get a steady mark off the locater or terrier then I carry on digging even after she has moved and 80% of the time I recover a body. It is a bonus on deep warrens as I know once she has topped it she will resurface :good: and I don't have to dig too deep (if she doesn't then she will have to be dug as she will stay forever... :( )!!

The main point is to work with what you have got and now that you know she is slaying them, you can either dig or not (in my case it depends on how deep!).

Another point is that ferreting is pest control and while it is annoying not to account for every rabbit killed, it isn't the end of the world and your farmer will still be happy..... :guitar: and the ferret has had a good time. :good:

Ive got a small gill that does this. I think that it is because everytime i take my dog out before school i always take the ferret with me. This is because round here i often dog one or two in and if theye been dogged in they dont wana bolt so its just got used to killing them quick but now is bored of waiting to be dug to. Just what ive found.

in my eyes a good ferret will work all day and bolt the rabbits and any that wont bolt are killed by the ferret ,most ferrets will go back to the rabbit after it as killed even for a few seconds thats how you can tell theres a dead one below , just mark the spot if you by your self, i always go with two or more of us makes life easyer and more fun ..if a ferret keeps comeing out then shoots back down again its not fecking about its on another rabbit so wait a little bit longer .also a real good ferret will come out the hole then run along the hedge ect to the next hole and seems to know if theres one at home ,the more work it gets the better the ferret will get,i feed mine the night before like i always do no more food and no less,if its a goodun it will work no matter what
