Border Terrier 0
pitindall is right they didnt force you to part with the cash, you say you were palmed off with a beddie whippet when you went to buy a saluki/grey type, I would have walked away as soon as I realised the dog Id went to buy wasnt for sale, I would have told them where to go to as well its a place that starts with F and ends in K Try and get yourself something off proven working parents and make sure you see the parents working cos theres a lot of people say the parents are good workers but their idea of a good worker can include only being good on the lamp not during the day, not jumping properly and yapping to name just a few things Quote Link to post
Guest joe ox
Your only 15 so you have to be a bit naive to the dog world, write it off to experience. Buy a pup what suites your needs off working parents what you can see working and a guy who you can keep in touch with for advice if you need it. Quote Link to post

Buy a pup what suites your needs off working parents what you can see working and a guy who you can keep in touch with for advice if you need it. Good advice. If you buy from someone you don't know you are asking for trouble. Always a good idea to check someone out first: either through word of mouth, or on here: and get a pup through reccomendation from someone on the forum who is well respected and experienced and who will back up their claims and be prepared to offer advice and help in the future. Border Terrier 0
I didnt realise the lad was only 15, sorry fella. Put it down to experience then lad and find yourself something well bred from someone who works their dogs a good tip would be to avoid those who always have different dogs for sale each week or month, if they are so good why are they for sale? and the dog collectors who have loads of dogs, they probably wont get the time to work them all as much as they say they do, look for the genuine lads who have a couple of dogs who work them hard and are just breeding for a pup to keep for themselves, if the breeder doesnt think the pups worth keeping one then that says it all. Anyone else think its ironic the name of the place these cowboys come from Quote Link to post

Guest smashygadge
well when i started out i bought a dog that was a pup then you have time to grow together .and simply took that out with pals until the time was right for my dog to have a go .he was catching at 6 month to the day and trained to ferret at 5 month some say 2 young for dog but we have never looked back.and easier than trying to put right the training if any somone has allready put into the dog good luck bud it may come round with time Quote Link to post
