Approved 'fenn' type Spring Traps

I dont want to get involved in a discussion titled 'my traps are the best' that is silly and nothing can be learned from that.

I don't think anyone's asking ye to, mate.

Made in Taiwan = good quality ~ The country has an excellent metal pressing and forming history.

Pity then that your own blue prints didn't instruct them to make the traps correctly.

The top bar and jaw of the trap ~ I will leave judgement on this part to people who have bought and tested our trap. Our traps kill very effectively and I am yet to have a missed catch (ie foot or leg etc) on the ones I have set 24/7.

Moley Did buy one, look. And he's spitting nails of disgust! And, on Your criteria; Molesworth there didn't have any leg catches either. Just LIVE catches. How many rabbits have you personally trapped with one of the traps ye sent Moles? How many did ye find stone cold dead in the morning? I'm simply being as fair as I can see how to, throughout this Thread. I'm probably one of the most objective among us, on this subject. Hell; We don't even Have any rabbits round my way. If we did, go after one would be the last thing I'd do.

If we make changes they may take a while to filter through as the traps will need to be submitted to testing again (to make sure the trap has not changed beyond what was tested before).

:icon_eek:Oh now, Pul Eeeease!!! Ye can't seriously expect us to swallow That? What? Shorten the arms by 1/4" to close the bloody jaws properly and they'll want to re test the whole damn thing?! Sorry; I'm a little too 'up on' the history and developement of the Fenn trap to accept that as a potential excuse to keep churning out what Moley got. I'm neutral on all this. But a stroke like that could fast alienate me. If ye can alienate the neutral; What hope of winning over these two mole men?

Now heres another one. Those of you guys that use the likes of the Juby or Imbra , swear by them. I have never used one so can't comment.

But would it not be a good idea to copy there design?

Nice idea, Tomo. I'm a noted Big fan of the Juby myself. But does not hisory show us the 'failings' of that trap? 'Too much steel'. Too heavy. Too hard to handle. Too cumbersome. Most of all; Too bloody expensive! :icon_eek:

Fact that there's still shed loads of them around today - and that most of those taken from a shed could and can, in pretty short order - be set to use - proves their strength and longevity. A Real Quality piece of engineering, the Juby. But always at one f*ck of a Price! Even second hand ones tend to command quite enough that ye getting nothing 'for nothing' in buying them. See what I mean?

Imbra? Pretty much the same points, only on a reduced scale. Possibly more of a possibility than the Juby. Bit of a distraction from the core of this Thread just yet though, perhaps? :hmm:

I don't think anyone can criticise the trap unless they have tried it themselves like moley. I have ordered a couple to try and will test myself.

Recently more development has gone into reducing killing time of the Mk4 and 6 and the company that make Springers have upto now been leading the way whilst Fenn have been left behind and just produce the same trap they always have. I carry out periodic subcontractural work for DEFRA and CSL and new legislation regarding killing time is not very far away.

It is very interesting to see that so many people here are catching rabbits with the Mk6. In my area the rabbit population had been hit hard in the past 5-6 years with disease. Now they are returning in some numbers I feel confident that one or two being caught will do no harm to the population. So I will set about catching some. Thanks for advice (in private) by Snareman on a successful method for catching them.
