lurchergrrl 1,441
Those of you making a great big fuss about hating gay men might be interested in a well known psychological defence called 'reaction formation'. Here's a definition or two .... Description Reaction Formation occurs when a person feels an urge to do or say something and then actually does or says something that is effectively the opposite of what they really want. It also appears as a defense against a feared social punishment. If I fear that I will be criticized for something, I very visibly act in a way that shows I am personally a long way from the feared position. A common pattern in Reaction Formation is where the person uses ‘excessive behavior’, for example using exaggerated friendliness when the person is actually feeling unfriendly. Example A person who is angry with a colleague actually ends up being particularly courteous and friendly towards them. A man who is gay has a number of conspicuous heterosexual affairs and openly criticizes gays. A mother who has a child she does not want becomes very protective of the child. An alcoholic extols the virtues of abstinence. and An example of Freud's theory is when a "heterosexual" individual supports and maintains strong "homophobic" beliefs as a way to cover-up their deep-seated and often untouched homosexual desires. A reaction formation is used to balance the ego-id-superego emotion of this "homosexual" living as a "heterosexual" in order to relieve the individual's anxiety. Just for info, you ardently heterosexual big butch men I don't see the big deal - people are people. Take folks for what they are, how they treat you, not what they do in their bedrooms. Polecat: Well said mate. Quote Link to post

Missie 1
I have gay friends of both sexes and my daughter also spends time with them. Why is it such a travesty if a gay couple kiss in front of a child? They are doing what is natural to them. Would you be the same if it were a straight couple? Obviously there is a limit in was is suitable for a young child to see but that applies to both gay and straight couples, I wouldn't tolerate crossing the line from either. As far as i'm concerned live and let live. So what if gay people hunt, they are the same as us and everyone has different preferences, why should being gay be such a taboo anymore. Quote Link to post

Snoop ffs mate,i think they'd have more tact than to start "gettin it on" in front of my kids My kids are 19,11,and 9,even the youngest understands what "gay" means,if anything they find the whole idea of men kissing men,and women kissing women highly amusing. If they see something like that on telly, they start giggling and laughing. My kids have always been taught to take people as they find them, and never judge a book by the cover. As for Millet,Darcy and Wilf, what they have is "special" Edited to add,if i have to be a "biggoted, racist, homophobe" to be a hunter. Then i better shoot my dogs sell my gear and give up my permission cos i am none of them things. timjim 43
I`m not Homaphobic - I`m not scared of my house seriously though, i dont think about sex whilst out with the dogs, so why would a gay man think about prodding the chocolate starfish whilst his dog enters a dark brown tunnel yelping and excited hmm now i have put it like that i can see a connection, yes it is a bit of a confusing topic isnt it Quote Link to post
billybunter 72
for fucks sake i thought this was a hunting site not a f*****g gay debate site and yes im homophobic so get rid of this f*****g topic Quote Link to post
