stubby 175
hi mate, 1, its best to keep two or more ferrets, Id say approx 2 legs of chicken sort of amount, some people keep a dry ferret mix down all the time, but feed meat (rabbit) daily, if you can work it out, I have 9 ferts and they get a whole rabbit daily between them all, minus the head and rear legs 2,attention wise; you get out, what you put in, meaning if you want to spend half hour each day with them, fine, but dont expect to have a great ferret, ferrets are like all domestic animals, the more you handle them, the better they get, they dont bite, they will be easyier to work etc 3,some people have plastic pipes in their cages/courts for them to play in, but thats about it, ferrets have a natural instinct to go down holes, the more you take them out, the better they will get 4,cleaning, they normally pick a corner to mess in and stick to that corner, therefore large feaces can be cleaned out daily/every other day, and maybe a full hutch clean once a week 5, no vaccinations needed 6, if your gonna start ferreting, you will also need, purse nets spade ferret carry box ferret locator and collars (saves losing your ferts) a spare chest/box freezer, to keep the caught rabbits in/ ferret food as suggested, your better off getting young kitts, handling every day then by the winter, you'll be able to give rabbiting a go, which will also then give you time to ask more questions, read all books you can, and get some/all of the extras together Quote Link to post

Malt 379
In addition to what's been mentioned above, it's also worth browsing through some of the back pages in this section. Certain questions have been asked time & time again, and there's a wealth of knowledge & opinions, regarding everything from the keeping of ferrets, feeding, bedding, health, handling, etc, right through to the working of them including, nets, ferret finders, ferrets laying up, ferret boxes, etc. Quote Link to post
