Help Needed

Recommended Posts

I work at a country house as a gardner/estate worker/dogs body, part of my job is a bit of pest control from time to time. At the moment it's moles...............the ones in the lawn I'm managing fine with scissor traps, but I'm struggling with the littles gits in amongst the borders, the tunnels are either just below the surface(real shallow) or mega deep! Should I be looking to use barrels traps??? any other tips would be great :hmm:

Cheers in advance.

Hi Barbus ,welcome aboard , I think you have answered your own question :D try the barrel traps in the shallow runs first, if you don,t know how to fine tune the traps log on to www.warrenfarm.co.uk,&maybe buy the C.D ROM it will show you how to fine tune the traps !! if you really want to push the boat out P M, Moley who is on this site and buy his video!! also do not buy any traps from the BIG CHEESE COMPANY absolute pony , the springs are weak !! always buy british made traps cost a £ or more but better in the long run ! try scrolling back on this section on mole trapping or search in the F A Q,s , I hope this has been of some help to you, :drink: Steve

Hi Barbus, I use both barrel and the Fenn scissor trap and have good success with both, the barrel trap is a good trap at any depth if care is taken with the hole and covering the trap when set, I like the Fenn in the shallow runs as they are easily checked.

Thanks mate I'm gonna be down the local farm shop this week so will be on the look out for the barrels :gunsmilie:

yes , try the duffus ( half barrel) in the shallow runs- they work a treat in deep runs too, but you need to be careful that you dont pile too much soil on top, this will hinder the trigger mechanism. Also with the scissor trap make sure you dont wedge the sod you cut out in the wrong side of the trap. This again will hinder the triggering. Hope you understand. trappa
