i am sorry but with me being a full time guide and lot's of other guides in my area we need to offer cash to get some of the finest goose and pigeon shooting in this county good luck to you if you get your shooting for free we also get crop protection shooting for free as well but up here in scotland these farmers know they can get big buck's out of goose and pigeon guides

regards

You would expect to pay for game bird and in some cases roughshooting. I used to pay also for inland wildfowling on the Solway, again expected.

it's only in cases where you are providing an exclusive service that you can expect to shoot for free nowadays unless you have a good/longstanding/professional relationship with the landowner. They've seen too many nobs!

It is the commonly expected norn to pay for goose, wildfowling, game birds and sometimes pigeon. In addition hare and deer also sometimes come into this category.

Gereral game and vermin control, is on the whole, accepted as free! There are of course exceptions to everything though! I do not pay any of my landowners for shooting or taking game, and some of them pay me! Everything edible goes in the freezer or to the game dealer or is sold privately so I make a few quid more! Of course the landowners sometimes want a rabbit or two or a bit of venison etc and they get a Christmas card from me!

I refer to the "sport" side of course, I also run a Game and Vermin Control company and that is NOT free!

Then you can get a mix, a pal has shooting rights over one piece of land to control things, it is absolutely free ...except...he has to pay the landowner £250 when he takes a deer (any species), needless to say he doesn't take many!

On the "whole" getting permission is not easy....you need to build up history, trust, experience, ability, reputation, etc, etc ....I know that's like the chicken and the egg! But the harder I try the more land I seem to get and as I finish writing this I off to see a new landowner who rang me a couple of days back about a rabbit problem...and trust me I do not intend to pay her!

I think Guevara is just a young chap who is too impatient to try everything. He could do with a local mentor to show him the way.

He has put up some opinionated posts, but I just put it down to lack of experience. He will be fine in another 20 years!!
