TOMO 26,037 Posted March 12, 2008 Report Share Posted March 12, 2008 theres a little plantation out the field at the back of my house , thers always a good few rabbits round it. now i been meaning to do it all season, but you know how its is , putting things of , or picking the lamp up in stead. now i know the keeper ferreted it reasantly as i could see where hes dug , but feck it a thought it will only take 20 mins. any way droped the nets quik walk in its only a small bit of winter weat, 5 rabbits in the net and a chewed line will splice it tommorow. heres a couple of pics Quote Link to post

Nobby 65 Posted March 13, 2008 Report Share Posted March 13, 2008 Nice one Tomo shame about the chewed line .Had a look out with the lamp last night needed a couple of rabbits to feed to the deerhound i gave the old black&white dog a look out got 2 but should have caught 5 the first field put the lamp on with the red filter on and a fox was coursing a rabbit was a good run watched it chase it over the top of the beach banks. whin 463 Posted March 13, 2008 Report Share Posted March 13, 2008 if you want areal buz netting salmon and sea trout or bass freat sport and real good to eat or sell but you have to be carefull had aguy from this site showed him how to go about it made anet for rhim he takes it when hees beach fishing in summer or camping greta sport useing nets for fish hares rabbs anything actualy , there areas localy were you can net roe to slow them down as its a bit rough for the dogs allthe best next to lurchers cant beat netting fish or fauna Quote Link to post

whin 463 Posted March 13, 2008 Report Share Posted March 13, 2008 what are they raimbows good size for smoking , netting in the sea is a bit diff tomo but good fun you need to do it on a nite time tide and preferably no wind , you stake a fifty yarder out maybe 8 feet deep anchor him run the net to the high water mark get down early take a jukel and binos, you check the net no cs about, get you fish, hide your net and away home or to the fish mongers ,and then go to work, great ,beats rabbit long netting any day, see when you see several big pure bars of silver in net after 20 odd yrs i still get a buzz even one makes me happy , some times i set three or four nets along the coastline at diffrent pionts were the fish swim past had bass sea trout salmon plaice spurdog mullet mackrel , ive sat on the net as ayoungsters camped out heard the fish spashing waded out one night eighteen pound salmon , feching head was gone carried it to fishmonger got fory quid 1983 a first year app jioner weekly wage in one nite , mind you had bad nites seals bailifes weather ,seaweed , i went chaseing pussy slept in al the bird watchers watching my net , i get there for eight , i told them to fech off took the fish and net had the mad head on all the best Quote Link to post

TOMO 26,037 Posted March 18, 2008 Author Report Share Posted March 18, 2008 Would have thought your dad would have brought you and the net. ferreting tomorow, up the dales , was out today flushing . not many days go by when im not doing somthing i wouldn't worry about them being to thick , so long as there not like broom handles. to be honest mine have got thiker over the years . when i started netting years ago , i was tought to get them nice and thin . but to be honest i prefer them thiker now a days. best wishes TOMO Quote Link to post
FERRETBOY 680 Posted March 18, 2008 Report Share Posted March 18, 2008 hes just had puncture driving home lol he best sort it asap ,he probabley would take me but pretty busy at the moment plus the nets only a cheapen.im gonna give my two pups ago flushing next week as im off work .i might also have a day out with witton ,they might not be at there best but its only bringing the pups on and to get a couple for the pot .what dog did you take and did you do well.i have also a few spots i want to lamp ,hopefully some green bunnys. i struggle with the thicker sticks because im only a skinny lad lol ,there alright in plough and thats about it for me .good luck tomorrow ,hopefully not to many digs , we have stopped now but the farmer wants us to have a look with the lamp twice a month,NICE!! good hunting rew Quote Link to post
