OR BETTER STILL IS THERE ANYONE ROUND THE NOTT'S, SOUTH YORKSHIRE AREA WHO WOULD TAKE ME UNDER THERE WING SO TO SPEAK. Bonzo. 0 Posted March 12, 2008 Report Share Posted March 12, 2008 Do something as kat suggests, go on a hawk walk & then consider doing a course, if there is no one near to look out for you and keep you right. It's not just the fieldcraft & general husbandry you have to learn, but you have to be able to pick up on signs of ill health as well. Some good books are Art & Practice of Falconry, Revised Edition. Emma Ford. Falconry basics. Tony Hall. these are ideal books to educate yourself on the begginings of falconry, but remember, it isn't just about buying the bird. You have to build a flight, scales, glove, telemetry. So look at spending easily another £1000 on top of the price of the bird. Quote Link to post
