got a farm i do a fair bit on and theres a silage pit with alot of rats borrowed into the banks and maize just wonderin has anyone tryed the tin can and tights ? and how would u get them in a ferret or smoker tryin trapin them had 2 but not good anuff need to hit them hard what you think?

Try a smoker and a few terriers, great sport.

Also shoot them at night with an airgun, and

lamp.

As above, a smoker and a few terriers. You can make a smoker out of an old two stroke strimmer/chainsaw/hedgecutter engine

Tin can & tights...... If I remember right I first read about this in a Plummer book in the early 's. Was ratting like mad back then and tried the method, which is to cut out both ends of the can and secure the leg of a stocking or pair of tights to it (duck tape etc).

Enter ferret in to rat hole, and ram tin can into the hole, ferret does job, rat bolts and finds sanctuary in dark (if unwashed.. smelly!) nylon, you dispose of at will!!

 

Tried it......and..... it 'sorta' works but if your armed with your trusty ratting tyke.....

ive got a smoker just never seem to have much joy with it?

anyone else had the same ??
