COMPO 54 Posted March 14, 2008 Report Share Posted March 14, 2008 DS i wish i had the time and patience to do what your doing my surname came to england with the normans, and i know what you mean about the spelling issue, my surname has at least 4 different spellings depending on who scribed it down, thing is though that as the people became more literate, they just accepted whatever that person doing teh census had written as the way that it should be written i may pm you later Quote Link to post Share on other sites

And, now that I'm working in Ancestry.com, we actually have the oppertunity to set the records straight with a click! Try doing that with, eg. the Saints site! Takes all manner of carry ons and then ye have to wait for them to do an overhaul. Sod that! Want the real deal? Ancestry! PM away. I'll be around again presently.
