SportingShooter 0
what is the max range can you shoot a siting rabbit with a 12g and have a clean kill???? Cartridge? choke? barrel length? experience? conditions? etc..........60 yards no problem, done plenty! whats the best lengh shorter or longer barrell it depends, really on personal preference. i have barrels ranging from 24", the legal minimum on SGC, to 32" on a clay gun. i tend to use a 26" skeet gun with teague chokes for most live shooting, and my 32" trap gun for clays. the most common barrel length id say is 28" which is a good compromise but it really is down to what your preference is. smokeless powder will burn within 12-18" of barrel so it has no effect on power if you have a shorter barrel.black powder for older weapons needed a good 30"+ to get an efficient burn. so a 24" will kill equally as well as a 34"(yes there are 34" barrels out there), the only thing that is different is the balance of the gun a 24" will swing a lot faster than a long barrel. so again personal preference hope this helps ss06 Quote Link to post
