Guest whin
a few local guys who do pike etc ask for mackrel i cach in the sea for bait i knew a few miekles from the falkirk area etc Quote Link to post
jock meikle 2
aye we use mackeral quite a bit ,but your m8s are lucky getting them so fresh we have to make do with the packs, and their not as good as fresh ones ,it must be one of the most populer baits even today it still catches alot of fish every year.alot of my family are from lanarkshire and around that way but i dont no about falkirk Quote Link to post
Guest whin
we get a lot of makcrel fresh from july to sep great for baiting creels, catching ling, smoking feeding some to the dogs ,we mince them up and bag them for chum to atrract fish etc the only thing its hard to get to the cod as the mackrel are so fast ,weve caught boxes just with rods great way for young ones to start sea fishing etc , they make amess of sea trout nets etc BBUT THERE GOOD FUN AND when there nothing else doing they keep you going all the best Quote Link to post
jock meikle 2
always fancied trying for them with lures,i know feathers are the norm but a toby or an abu krill ithink would be good fishing,we get a few up our way but i dont like deep water but maybe this year ill try it of a boat with them, there my favorite pike bait because you can present them in so many ways and there really oily so the pike find them easy Quote Link to post
