huntwithhounds 3
Hi there applying for my sgc and have encountered some problems. When it saysGive details of the shot gun(s) in your possesion at the time of this application. i dont own any but if i get granted the certificate and buy a gun will i need to renew it to state that i have a gun? Countersignatureim f*cking clueless lol.A countersignatory must also be a member of parliment, justice of the peace...... who did you lot get to countersign? also what is the fee that has to be payed? hope you guys and girls can help me thanks in advance F.k You don't have to fill in gun details because you have'nt yet got a gun, when you are issued a sgl you take it with you to the gun shop if you buy a gun they will fill it in (ie put gun serial number ,type, gauge down) You usaully will then send a letter to the firearms department outlining the gun which should be recorded on your license. Most good gun shops will arrange this for you and usually have a automated letter which again they fill in the gun details and you sign. I got a local parish councillor who lives near me to sign my countersignator I payed £50 with Humberside police hope this has answered some of your questions Quote Link to post

markbivvy 6
your boss, doctor, fireman, as long as you have been known to them for 2 years. a paramedic was one of mine. Quote Link to post
James@Scarborough 0
I didn't need a countersign on mine, just 2 referees. BTW £60 instead of £50 buys you a co-terminous FAC at the same time. Quote Link to post

Ratman2 2
thanks for that it did help alot but still abit unsure on the countersignatory carry on It's any one of good social standing that has known you for some time, for my SGC I get our Post Master to sign. Doctors usually charge a fee. Guns in your possession = none, and if I remember correctly you must state none on the form otherwise it can delay your application. Once your SGC is granted and you buy your first gun the details must be entered on your certificate, you must then notify your Firearms Department ASAP, I photocopy the details entered on the SGC and also copy the receipt, I send this information together with a covering letter, job done. Good luck with your application and I hope you soon get it granted. Quote Link to post
Ratman2 2
One thing I forgot to mention, no one should ever be afraid to ask their Firearms Department for advice, they are there to help and I am pleased to say that the people at my Firearms Department (Lincolnshire) are very helpful and the FEO always let’s you have his mobile number. arcpest 6
im reading through the FAC application form now and it all seems abit complicated, how do you find out about your local fire arms department? yell.com search police headquarters in your county mine brings up surrey police headquarters Quote Link to post
njc110381 0
As above really. Just phone the police HQ for your area and ask to speak to someone in the firearms department. They will put you through to someone who can help. The fee is £50. A countersignature is just someone who has known you for over two years and is important (ish). Teachers, accountants, your boss, bank workers etc. Pretty much anyone who has a responsible job (apart form a copper, they're not trustworthy) Quote Link to post
scotlandforever 0
i got a retired deputay cunstable to sign mine and the fee is £50 Jason Quote Link to post
