shit happens

Life can be a real bitch at times

It least you were there for him to do the right in the end.

I've been there myself twice in a matter of months, it wrecked me in the same way as you are saying. I considered given up running dogs but we all know it's not something you can give up.

These days I'll only keep pure Salukis and this purely because of the effect what happened those years back has had on me, I could'nt cope with the stress of speedsters. I need dogs that know how to look after themselves.

All the best for the future

Mark

If theres any pups bred in the next few months that are suitable for the ferreting game let me know,I use the one dog on ferreting alone,I dont lamp them until I'm certain hes steady and doing his job 100%.I was about to introduce him to the lamp next season as I was satisfied he was steady and capabale of carrying out both jobs by then.I dont want whippet or whippet crosses, but something with good feet and maybe I'll have to consider good strong bone too from now on.Anyway drop me a PM if you think you might have something that may suit, thanks.

heart goes out to you jigsaw, shit has happened for me and my dog recently too. She was just getting good- really fast and agile. a little bed/whipet. we were out walking in a park and a gun shot spooked her and she bolted- ran straight out onto a main road and car got her. It was all a mess, her back leg was broken at the hock. Vet amputated her right back leg-which was the wierdest/gut renching experience ive ever gone through seeing her like that. apart from this she had a gash on her other back leg which has healed really well. It has now been four weeks and she is doing realy well, she is still a fast little runner and very agile- and thank god she is still as confident. If it had have been both legs we would have done the same as you. The vet said she would cope well, and she is doing amazingly well. she's a bit like Deefer the three legged lurcher who does agility on crufts- well at least Deefers now her role model!....I hope things get easier- they will. lurchers are amazing dogs- and the next one you have will bring you so much happiness.love and hugs, dogslife x
