Bedlingtons working vs show?

Recommended Posts

I posted this a while back and I didnt get a straight answer. Does anyone breed purebred working Bedlingtons?

I am not interested in Bedlington X but instead working lines that strictly have bedlington in their makeup and nothing else.

Im no expert on the subject but as theres nobody going to give you a answer. Im sure theres the odd purebred working bedlington about, granitor is really the only one i hear about these days. I have a gutchcommon/foggyfurze bitch that i have worked on big numbers of rat as theres nothing bigger over here on the isle of man, but most people class workers as going to ground not killing the odd rat or hunting up rabbit, depends what you want to use it on. I must say even that my bitch has done me proud over the years and she is a good strong bitch the coat on her is shite, one drop of rain and its through to the skin. To sum it up i think anything that was purebred that was any good have long gone hence the outcross. Im sure somebody will come along and say what aload of shite!

WELL MATE ,

THINK ON THIS ............

OLD GEORGE NEWCOMBE TRIED THE OUTCROSSES FOR A REASON ....... :hmm:

OVER THE YRS I HAVE ONLY SEEN ONE BEDLINGTON WHICH WOULD GO TO GROUND AND WORK WELL , A REAL SHAME ............... SHE WAS BRED QUITE A BIT BY HER OWNER AND NEVER PRODUCED ANYTHING ANY GOOD

PERSONALLY I COULDNT GIVE A TOSS WHEATHER IT WAS " PURE " OR NOT ........ I WOULD RATHER HAVE A GOOD WORKER WITH A DASH OF OUTSIDE BLOOD THAN A FANNY LICKER WITH A PEDIGREE AS LONG AS YER ARM ...

I've got a good bedlington, he's rillington/rambo lines, but also a alot of show stuff in him. He's 16" not to big, 19 inch around chest. I think its hard to get full working lines now adays.

just to argue myself, Rambo was a kc reg dog, lol.
