Hey guys. This is my first post on here but I've been reading for a few weeks. I've just found Remmys post about the 2p sized group at 300 yards and had to comment. What a great shot! I wish I could do that.

I've just got into rifle shooting (had my FAC about 3 months) and for now an inch at 100 is about my best regular group size. I shoot a Tikka T3 Laminate Stainless in 6.5x55, SYSS 10/22 and a CZ American .17hmr.

I'm at an exciting point right now, I've just sent my FAC in for variation for a .223 and to have my mentor condition removed. Hopefully it will be back soon and I'll be able to go out on my own for the first time. I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm lucky to have four farms to shoot, although three of them are pretty flat and only really good for the two smaller calibres unless a high seat is involved. I have permission for everything from Rabbits to Deer but until my ticket comes back mentor free I don't get to go out that often on my ground. I think stalking on my own will have to wait until next season.

I'm being really pushy and asking for an open certificate too. I really don't know if I'll get it but I think I should. My certificate conditions are a little weird because my force messed up my application and had to rush a second one through at very short notice. For now I can shoot any land I have permission to shoot, but under the supervision of my mentor. Hopefully this has got me off to a good start as I have an open certificate already, but I have to make sure my mentor agrees with my shot choice. I'm doing pretty well and haven't ever wanted to take a dodgy one so I have a nice covering letter from him saying this.

Anyway, I wont chat on! I'm sure I'll bump into you all at some point and probably learn a bit on the way.

Cheers,

Neil
