Well i watched it, well half of it anyway.

I hate racism of all kinds. In that i mean i hate whites insulting blacks, Indians or whatever, but we also have to take into account that it’s not a one sided thing. There are many racist of black, Asian, Indian backgrounds, whose behaviour towards white people are atrocious. Black on white racism, although it happens as much as white on black racism, is rarely, if ever, commented on by the press incase it sparks up trouble.

I found the programme very interesting, in that it gave an insight into both sides of the argument.

It gave me much food for thought.

As usual,the moment a man stands up and says he is proud of his country,is a nationalist or anything similar,he is termed a racist by the dogooders.....pride in your country and racism are NOT the same thing...just because pride in your country may be offensive to immigrants those kind of posts are removed by the moderator....yet in his own words,racist name calling posts will be removed and the person banned....a whole topic was removed where several people myself included discussed a similar topic where no racial slurs or name calling took place whatsoever,in fact it was a relatively eye opening and healthy debate....BUT because the majority posting were in favour of the englishman in england...the post was removed.....freedom of speech doesnt exist under this moderator and thats a fact,if you dont see things like he does it gets removed....maxhardcore has made what i would personally consider a very accurate and appropriate post yet as i was reading it i thought to myself that i will be amazed if this is allowed to stay on the board....now how can that be freedom of speech....such is life,its a good job there is so much else of interest on this website or i think many people would have a total outburst and tell it like it is and let the chips fall where they may !

 

For the record, i also agree entirely with maxhordcore,s post. There,s nothing in it thats racist as far as i can tell. He,s someone who can tell the difference between national pride, and racism, a great pity some of the knuckledraggers here cant.

We could vote 100% to stop immigration but what could any UK government do.

Yes if it had the guts to do it, it could stop all immigration from outside the EU into Britain but it could not stop the whole population of say Poland moving here if they wanted too. It seems as though the EU make our immigration laws for us by telling our government who they HAVE to allow into this country. As more and more countries join the EU the more Britain will be swamped, just wait until Turkey joins! We live on a small Island our health service is on its knees, our green countryside is being taken to build houses for an ever growing population, our government say in the next 10 years more than 3 million houses will have to be built just to keep up. Enoch Powell stood up and said what most people thought 40 years ago, do any of you honestly think any MP would do the same today NO, everyone wants something done about immigration but everyone wants someone else to do it. If you are white and mention immigrants you are shot down as being a racist, people can not have an open debate in our own country. The longer our government sit back and do nothing the harder it will be, call me a racist but enough is enough.

just to say Britain is an Island,so ireland is not part of Britain and only a small part of Ireland is in the UK and even then thats a fairly contensious issue.

Enoch Powell, seemed fairly middle of the road to me and prophetic in alot of what he said.Britain for British people seems very reasonable to me.

I watched that programe and all i can say is the man was not a racist and was more forward thinking than the rest of his government put together. It is amazing to think that he had so much public support back then that if he could of run for PM then he would have won a landslide victory.

For what it’s worth, i don’t think it’s a racist post. In fact I’m very much against racism or any kind, yet i do agree with much of what you say.

I agree that some immigration is essential to the continued success of our economy, however, i disagree with mass immigration ,since they need to be housed, employed, educated and to have health care provided for them, and it’s a sad fact that we are unable to provide most of these essentials to those already living within this country.

I disagree that immigration, such as we are now experiencing, is doing anything to help our country, that is frankly, already on it’s knee’s under the stress of those we already have.

 

However, i believe we must remember that name calling and racist behaviour, does not, and never has, solved the issues currently being discussed, rather, it creates more tension, more problems and ultimately, more segregation.

Sence talking. We have to take a commonsence pragmatic aproack tro this. Some imigration is to be encouraged; mass migration loke we see today is out of control. The recent new legislation impoased by the government is actually a pretty good bit of work, the problem with it is that is is only concerned with those from outside the EU....

 

We also need to look at cultural/religious doferances, these are much more of an issue that the colour of a persons skin!

They totally fail to get there act together because they can not help but kill each other over TRIBAL feuds, enslave their own people, rob from each other.............they just cant make it work because they are a few thousand years behind in their mindset.

Does this issue only apply to England?? I'm Scottish with a UK passport and immigration is a UK wide issue thats dealt with by a UK government not an English or Scottish Government the same issues apply to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland does your Englishness make you superior in some way, that the matter is somehow to be ignored by the rest of the UK as!! you perceive it to be, there is no United Kingdom only England and the issues don't rate a comment for the rest of us

There were some very interesting statements in the documentary, including:

I got the impression that for Powell, it was not about colour or religion, it was about not allowing people to discriminate against foreigners. Powell himself was an interlectual, who spoke 12 languages and always wanted to be viceroy of india.

 

The saddest thing about the whole 'rivers of blood' speech was that it was pounced upon by the BNP and other racist organisations, and it prevented anyone having a sensible debate about immigration for years. What Powell predicted in that speech was not the take over of our country, but the danger of civil war.

 

I for one believe that we are overcrowded enough in the UK. I do not believe in 'multiculturalism' as I believe to be multi-cultural is to be uncultured (much the same as America). I do however believe that we as a nation are multi-racial, whether some like it or not. I also think that we have benefited from some immigration.

 

The problem is that this country is actually run by economists, not politicians, and they believe that unless the population continues to grow, we will be in recession.

 

If I had my way, we would boot out all the 'professional politicians' and let the aristocracy run the country (whatever happened to Lord B?). Professional, career politicians are the scum of the earth.

 

Lets not let a good thread become just another excuse to slag off Muslims, or blacks. Stick to EP and immigration, and the mods might go easy.

I think you are right on this, the Labour Government under TB became the face of what politics has now become, these guys are profesionals, profesional politicians looking out for #1 - themselves. They now become politicians to pave a way for themselves, to make a comfortable position for themselves and to line their pockets. There are very few letf in the mould of the traditional politician, a statesman, whos other interests may earn him a living but politics it what ythey love and believe in, just like EP.

 

Like them or not, but people like Lembit Opik, Michael Hesaltine and Boris Johnson are as close to true statesmen as we have today. Boris I believe on a numbver of occasions has raised the issue of reducing MP's wages!!

 

What EP said was spot on; its only shortfall was the woefull number he predicted; but in truth where do we go from here? Where do we go now?

 

A radical right wing party like the BNP (Mods please dont shoot me for mentioning them) in my opinion are not the answer. That would only lead to two extreame sides fighting (maybe literally); what we need is a common sence EP type op[inion to drive us forward. The danger is that the more diluted Britain and Britishness becomes the less likely it is to happen, and the more none PC such beliefes become.

 

But something has to happen.
