cocker 2,654
23 years back i had a 3/4 greyhound 1/4 bearded collie off him, not a bad dog, but nowt flash really. 19 years back i had a 3/4 greyhound 1/4 border collie off him, again not a bad un but not that good either, both were big ba$t@rds 28inch 70lbs in weight, they looked the part but didnt always give it 100% 15 years back i had a first cross border collie greyhound bitch off him, really good bitch always gave 100% one of the best dogs ive ever known, she was 23", all it wanted to do was work for you, bought them all as pups and kept them all till they died, dont have hancock dogs no more, i now have a good bull greyhound, and find that he is a better tryer, and wants to please you more than a collie greyhound, (pity its took me so long to find the right type of dog for me) i think the only reason hancock has sold so many dogs is cos of plummers influence through the books, for the ammount of dogs hancock has bred theres bound to be some good ones, at the end of the day he doesnt work dogs and i dont think he ever has ( i have met him and spoke to him many times)most of his greyhound are just cast offs too, Quote Link to post

ASME IX 1
shamefully i have walked down hr hancocks £+VAT path, the dog pup i came away with(1/4beardie 1/4border)didnt turn out to be what i expected.just didnt have any determination, this isnt to say they are all the same, guess it depends on what the individual person judges a good/bad dog.The dog wasnt for me ragards asme9 Remember that dog ASME, 'ol Fleck, or rather The 'Reverend Fleck' as he was later named, for having the nasty little habit of wagging his tail like mad whilst shitting (loose, always loose!) and covering any unfortunate who was standing nearby to admire him ( a fair 'ol looker was 'the Rev') so the frase 'Let us spray' was adopted.....Daft I know!! I've owned one Hancock and to be fair she was a cracker, at what she was good at. I was given the bitch as the family who owned her couldn't keep her in and she would wander the streets to find the kids, most days waiting at the school gates. What she was good at was daytime work, she was a crackin finder, especially on hares, never seen a dog quarter a field as good and out with a saluki X I killed my share that season. I was and still am predominantley a lamper and this bitch was just about usless for the job, no matter how much effort I put in, never tuned into the beam and always hunted up Though, I will always maintain brought up as a lamp dog this bitch would have done me proud. Gave her away to a family type background in the end, kids she loved and lived to a ripe old age. Known a few ok fox dogs from Hancock too but would never want to purchase one for this job. Seen plenty of shite though, if so many dogs are being produced without working parents a fair 'ol percentage simply wont make the grade, no, they ain't for me! bosun i remember bringin (gid up) fleck home,i was in the back of the car with it,it was sh*t sceard and timmid,we hadnt got 200yrds down the road"BOOM" star burst every were, there was chicken korma all over back seat and my hand even . i dont know what mr VAT was feeding him. DiStuRBeD 0
from waht ive read i'll give you an opionion stay away from them, get something thats been selectively bred worker to worker and should if they do it right end up with a much higher % of working dogs, not only that but they should be able to tell you hwo the pups should turn out etc etc i will never get a pup from non working lines also IMO when someone starts putting $ before dogs, then i see issues... not only that but his website doesnt even state he works his dogs, that would have alarm bells ringing to me so loud it would be deafening!!!!!!!!!!!! comanche 2,955
i was just wundering how many people like and rate them dogs personally i think they are only gud 4 rabbits but was just wundering wotb is so good about them can any let me no [bANNED TEXT] every 1 is missing out on Recent Hancock dogs looka bit too bred for "type and colour (ie genetic warning -sign merle)" for my liking.Sturdy looking but a bit "distant" in attitude.I should'nt really judge on looks though ,should I. Had a Richard JonesxRene bitch in mid 's.Nervy, sensitive to train, cold sort of temperament.Once she twigged something though she never forgot it.Took long time ,lots of patience but at2 an half/ 3 yrs she blossomed>Won obedience, was fast for a 1st cross, took fox, loads of bunnies.Above average dog but a lot of effort to get there!Sadly killed in freak accident by of f-road joyriders. My next dog was rumoured to have originated from his stock from Merle(possibly via Merlin ,Conroys' Fleck lines).Loaded with saluki genes by the time the strain got to me.Don't think I'll ever own a better bitch though! If I get another collie cross I'll look for a pup from a calm ,working bitch of the old fashioned "farm collie type" or even a sensible pet type.Hancock has had his disasters (PhilLloyds Maddie for one) Some of his dogs have done very well in the right hands but I think any dog does well in the right hands .
