Rolfe 2
On the golf course where i have the pest control contract........it cost the club £120.00 a time to re-sharpen and re-set the gang mower blades after running across molehills containing unearthed stones. Since i have been in charge of mole clearance........this hasn't had to be done Rolfe. Quote Link to post
heart of wales 19
A local authority which I control moles for, employ my services because if someone had an accident on any of their playing fields or parks as a result of tripping or falling due to mole workings they would be liable,by using me they are safeguarding themselves from insurance claims . Tyke 0
I been looking after the borough council schools and sports fields for past 10 year, think you will find its down to the person who pass the area as playable who is liable. If they see a mole hill and allow play and a accident occured you as a mole controller would not be liable no would the school / sport field owners, the teacher / officer in charge MAY be, they is a large grey area, funny old world. Tyke 0
PS; If the fields have runs ( which they will have ) you did do a risk assement for the school and council, if not you could be liable. Disclaimers are wonderful things in the correct hands. 3 things you have to put into place for any council, borough, parish etc. £5,000,000 public liabilty, police checked, full risk assesment, miss one and you become liable, the barristers will have a field day with you. Trapping signs should also be displayed in public areas, yes they and the traps will be nicked. hence I only do those that have cameras or are locked. trapping on schools can only be carried out at weekends the goveners stipulate this, and then only if the school grounds are not in use that weekend. I get all my customers, farmers, schools, councils to sign a disclaimer before I commence work. I have been asked several times to do gallops for some of the top horse breeders in the country, NO WAY these beasts are worth millions, and it only takes one slip and it would be my arse nailed to the mast. As you know a mole hill can be seen its what lurks beneath that can cause accidents. Be very careful out there.
