how to stop the ferret eatin the rabbit down the h

i have a new hob and everytym i go ferreting i always get a few rabbits but i could get more if ma ferret stoped eating them down the hole.... HOW DO I STOP HIM FROM EATING THEM DOWN THE HOLE???????????? :realmad: :realmad: :realmad:

stop making so much noise when ur on top.... they'll bolt then...

try working him muzzled. get them from deben. used quite alot work well.

dont use a muzzle. be quiter when your setting the nets and when the ferrets down and leaving the burry a few mins to settle down before entering your ferret may be a good idea. are you starving him before work?

Have you tried him in different locations, maybe the place you use him will often end in a dig no matter what ferret you use, I,am not telling you how too do your job, but were you quiet when setting up as they often need digging out if there disturbed before hand. Some of the places I go i know before hand will end up in a dig, its down to the warren. Most ferrets will scratch the back end off a rabbit when its in a stop end and eventually kill it if left long enough its just down to where the rabbit bolts to, wether it goes into a net or a stop end. The ferrets not there for a chase.

Definitely not! What if he comes across another predator e.g stoat, or even a rat? They can all be found in these places, needless to say if he was lost :search: Stick to feeding the ferret early and leaving it sleep in the box before reaching the hunting ground full of vigour. Works for me, and always use a locator....

feedthem plenty rabbits, look after him, if they are used to rabbs theyl not lie up, theyll kill and move on ,unless over worked , muzles are use less so is any other method aprt from locators
