stubby 175
we tend to get hole hoppers when we ring a warren with a longnet, as already advised, a way to stop this is to either run a small stop net across the inside of the circle, or/also, purse netting a few holes (every 5th one) within the longnetted area, this helps if they start hole hopping, as you get the chance of them backnetting themselves, also as already stated, we tend to put 6 to 7 ferts down, gets the rabbits panicking a lot more, start an equal amount of ferts, from opposite ends, rabbits can then hole hop, into the path of the oncoming ferts Quote Link to post
mole catcher 1
this time of yr always sees their habbits change, reluctant ti bolt. try using the smaller nets to disect the warren and have a look at if you have made to much noise or if they have senced your there. this can often cause them to hole hope but mostly its due to the time of year as most ferreters will tell you they choose to hole hop or not bolt this time of the year. TOMO 25,814
dont be bothering resting warrens, that for the book writters mate. you shouldn't need to rest a warren any way with long nets that the hole idia. 30 mins is just wasting life. get the nets down and get on with it. as the other have said plenty ferts and stop nets through the middle best of luck TOMO Quote Link to post
J Darcy 5,871
Could you not put a small 25 yarder across the middle of the warren and a handful of pursenets too..? Quote Link to post
