Ratman2 2
Just visited your site TSA,.....Salmon fishing in Fort Wiiliam ay?,....Nice!! I will be in Laggan in a fortnights time enjoying the Mighty Spey!! Yep, I've got a mile of river up there; lovely part of the world. The site is far from finished yet, but its getting there; just not enough time to do everything!! As for this thread; its been suggested that celebs might not want to publicly be associated with field sports for fear of reprisals or for fear of people peering to close to their private lives; and why should they publicly stand up if we as individuals are not prepared to do the same. For my part, I am, as are many I'm sure whe have marched etc. As mere mortals we are unlikely to get much in the way of individual media attention, and are not known to the population as a whole, but the likes of Jamie Oliver, and other are......... ..............what I was getting at was that there are a hand full of "famous" antis, we all (and the general public) know who they are and people hear what they say and listen to it. We as country sports fans also know of many many more people that are in sport or television who do support country sports yet these people, who may outnumber "famous antis" are much much more quiet about their support than the famed antis are. I too have visited your 'web sites' and I notice your ebay shop is doing very well indeed, keep up the good work. I wanted to encourage a debate to see if poeple thought if these famous field sports fans were more outspoken would there be a benefit to the image of the countryside and field sports amongst the general public? More of an acceptance of it? I suspect there would be.

leegreen 2,180
I thought Otis was ok, before he was Master he was at the Middleton, Yorks, one of my local hunts, he was whipper in, and Knackers man, he came, shot and took away a bullock with a broken leg, decent lad ! That was jolly decent of him. If anyone in the Kent area has a bullock with a broken anything that needs shooting pm me I have an empty couple of freezers.

pritch 335
its no good expecting stars to come out in support on their own & expose them selves to the possible loss of work & all the rest of the flack that goes with it you need to organise something where you can get them all together then it's not as easy to pick them off individually & dismiss them as cranks, eccentrics or just weird then people can see we are not as we are portrayed by the news of the world or the cla, that were just folk from all walks of life doing something we love. I hear what you are saying there. I agree. You don't like the CLA? I'm a member of both the CLA and Countryside Aliance, but both (more so the CLA) have an image of pushing country sports for "Toffs" and less so for people from all walks of life. It has been mentioned before on this thread, but the Aliance organised (Countryside Rocks) an ontdoor concert which was a great place to get some famous faces in support of field sports together; and to a large extent it worked; but they didn't get what you might call "normal" country sports fans there, purely because the ticket price was so bloody high!! And outside the sporting press, magazines like Shooting Times, Shooting Gazette, The Field etc it didn't get much publicity; but it was a cracking event with some famous faces there.......... ...........I say, "more of the same please Countryside Alliance, but lets make it more accesable to people with normal sized wallets and lets generate some REAL press coverage"!! Missie 1
now country side rocks thingy ,how many knew that was on ?? pity we could not approach the celebs and get somethinmg like that organised eh but it would never happen It was a CA organised event so every single CA member *should* have known about it. I certainly got emails and leaflets about it quite a way in advance. I agree though, it should be made more accessable for more regular wallet. That was certainly one of the things that put me off. BUT having said that, some of us think nothing of spending our money on tickets to football, rugby or gigs etc although I think it was still a little higher priced than i've ever paid to go to Twickenham.
